Electric bicycle classes, age, and local restrictions

Wisconsin defines three e-bike classes up to 750 watts and applies bicycle rights and duties. E-bikes are exempt from driver licensing, registration, title, and financial-responsibility requirements. Class 3 operators must be at least 16. State, local, and DNR authorities may restrict e-bike use. No statewide e-bike-specific helmet rule was verified.

Lincoln County

E-bike prohibition on designated nonmotorized County forest trails

Prohibits all classes of e-bike on the Hiawatha Recreational Trail and Underdown trails designated for nonmotorized bicycle, horse, and foot use. The current County chapter supplement is dated May 29, 2024; the original adoption/effective date was not found.
