OhioElectric bicycle classes, age, helmets, and trails
Ohio defines three e-bike classes up to 750 watts. Class 1 and 2 may use bicycle/shared-use paths unless locally or state-prohibited; Class 3 is generally limited to paths adjacent to a highway or expressly authorized. All classes are barred from specified natural-surface trails without permission. Class 3 operator minimum age is 16 and all Class 3 riders/passengers must wear helmets.

HilliardCity e-bike helmet, shared-path, parental-responsibility, and impoundment rules
In Hilliard, riders under 18 must wear helmets; Class 3 e-bikes may use shared-use paths only when the path is along a road or the City authorizes use. A parent or guardian may be liable for recklessly permitting a child to violate the chapter, and police may impound a device involved in a traffic-code violation. The City states the ordinance took effect September 23, 2026.
