MontanaElectrically assisted bicycle definition
Montana defines an electrically assisted bicycle as a two-wheel vehicle with an electric motor that can propel a 170-pound rider at no more than 20 mph on a paved, level surface and includes it within the bicycle category. No separate class system or e-bike-specific statewide age/helmet rule was verified in the current code reviewed.

MissoulaE-bike operation on City shared paths and open space
Class 1 and 2 e-bikes may operate on designated Primary Commuter Trails; Class 3 e-bikes are not allowed there. E-bikes are prohibited in City open-space areas under the City rule and guidance. Ordinance 3641 was adopted August 12, 2019 and became effective September 11, 2019.
