Statewide e-bike law
Indiana Regulations
- Electric bicycle classes, age, helmets, and path access: Indiana defines three classes up to 750 watts, treats e-bikes as bicycles for road use, and exempts them from driver licensing and vehicle registration. Class 1 and 2 may use paths where bicycles are allowed unless a law, rule, or ordinance says otherwise; Class 3 access is limited to adjacent-road paths or local permission. Class 3 operators under 15 are prohibited; riders under 18 on Class 3 must wear helmets.
