Idaho defines three e-bike classes under 750 watts and generally applies bicycle rights and duties, with no driver license, title, or registration requirement. Path access may be restricted by local ordinance or agency action. HB 500, effective July 1, 2026, expressly includes e-bike riders in rules-of-the-road and passenger-carrying provisions. E-bike multi-use-path speed, helmet, and yielding rules

E-bikes may use sidewalks and multi-use paths subject to a 20-mph path speed cap, helmet requirement for riders under 18, pedestrian yielding, audible warning, and prudent-operation rules.
